The Gainesville Roots Project

Welcome to The Gainesville Roots Project: A neighborhood effort to revitalize and regrow the Gainesville Square through community-based music, art, and events.

The G.R.P. is a grassroots effort of local business owners, artists, musicians, and general do-gooders that are interested in creating a better Square.  We believe our community is stronger than the current establishment — and by banding together, we can turn the Square into the central art district of Gainesville.

Our goal is to create a free event network that aligns music performances, art shows, and many other types of events with local venues.  These events in turn drive traffic by providing a regular reason to visit the Square.

Participating in the G.R.P. is and always will be free.  We believe that our entire community benefits as a whole from the participation of each individual venue/artists/performer.  The more events that are thrown, the more people will be exposed to what we have to offer.

Advertising with the G.R.P. is also free.  This website functions as the central event calendar and information site.  Participants are welcome to post as much information as they like.  The more you post, the more people will see.

If you have a venue, please visit our venue sign up page for more information about becoming a participating venue.  Participating is free and easy.  You tell us what kind of events you would like to have at your place and we help you line up artists and performances.

If you are an artist/performer, please visit our event sign up for more information about creating an event.  Participating is free and easy.  You tell us what kind of event you would like to have and we help you line up a venue.
